Sewing Playa Patterns

As a side project I decided to learn to sew during this residency. I wont be so bold as to say I know what I am doing but i did make this today....

   
The horizon on the Playa is constantly changing, sometimes as often as every half hour,  creating amazing color combinations

Finally finished cutting out this piece of fabric. Not sure what its true calling is at the moment, but I have a few ideas I'm mulling over....

Innovations in Textiles Biennial

This Saturday September 17th,  Marci McDade, former editor of Fiber Arts Magazine, will kick off the weekend with a lecture at the St. Louis History Museum addressing the contemporary state of fiber arts in addition to giving a current overview of the medium. Following the lecture there will be a gallery hop/bus tour around St. Louis that includes participating venues. Below is a map including the galleries and anticipated arrival times at each location.

Join me @ 3:20pm at the  St. Louis Artists' Guild to view and discuss my new exhibition titled Convergence; new works including installation, video, and drawing that explore the body's relationship to our built environments through the medium of fabric.
